Game 6 of Group A was a repeat of the 2023 Barcelona Veterans Cup Semi-Final. It was Beijing Rockets (Chn) versus FC Poloboc (Mda). Back in 2023 it was a very close run affair with the Moldovan side edging the contest 1-0 with a Victor Zagorneanu goal. The two teams were very evenly matched in the Group A table today with 1 win and 1 loss each. This was 2 nd in the table versus 3 rd in the table with FC Poloboc sitting higher on goal difference.

FC Poloboc continued their recovery from opening game defeat with another dominant display, this time against Beijing Rockets. With the reigning champions looking to build momentum after their emphatic victory over FC Tpaktop, they wasted little time in taking control of the contest. Andrian Cucovei opened the scoring before Leonid Cigureanu struck twice to put the Moldovans firmly in command. Cucovei then grabbed his second goal of the game as FC Poloboc raced into a commanding 4–0 lead by half-time. The second half was a more controlled affair as FC Poloboc focused on maintaining their defensive discipline while continuing to threaten going forward. Beijing Rockets battled hard to find a route back into the match, but the Moldovan defence remained resolute. Any lingering doubt about the outcome was removed when Igor Cigureanu added a fifth goal to complete another comprehensive performance from the title holders.

The 5–0 victory made it back-to-back 5-0 wins and back-to-back clean sheets for FC Poloboc, moving them level on points with PFC at the top of Group A, although the Brazilians still had a game in hand. After suffering a surprise defeat in their opening fixture, the champions had responded in the manner expected of a team chasing a fourth consecutive Veterans title. For Beijing Rockets, the defeat left them needing a positive result in their final game to keep their knockout-stage hopes alive.

PFC arrived for their third Group A fixture in excellent form, sitting level on six points with FC Poloboc after victories in their opening two matches. A draw or better against FC Tpaktop would move the Brazilians clear at the top of the table and secure their place in the Cup competition. FC Tpaktop, meanwhile, knew that a victory would throw the group wide open and create a three-way tie on six points heading into the final round of fixtures.

Any hopes of that scenario quickly began to fade as PFC produced another ruthless attacking display. Tiago Hilario opened the scoring before Ricardo Teixeira continued his impressive tournament with a goal for the third consecutive game to make it 2–0. Fernando Cunha then maintained his own remarkable record of scoring in every match, striking twice to put the Brazilians firmly in command. Wendell Santos added a fifth before the interval as PFC stormed into a commanding 5–0 half-time lead. To their credit, FC Tpaktop continued to battle after the break and found a consolation goal through Leonid Sislo, who denied PFC a clean sheet. However, the result was never in doubt as the Brazilians comfortably managed the second half, protecting their advantage and seeing out a convincing 5–1 victory.

The win moved PFC onto nine points from three matches, secured Cup qualification, and left them alone at the top of Group A heading into the final round. Their blend of attacking firepower and consistency was making them one of the standout teams in the Veterans tournament. For FC Tpaktop, defeat left qualification hopes hanging in the balance, with everything to play for in their final group fixture.

The all-Moldovan clash between Tricolor and FC Poloboc carried huge significance for both teams. FC Poloboc had recovered from their opening defeat with back-to-back 5–0 victories and looked to be building momentum once again in their pursuit of a fourth consecutive Veterans title. Tricolor, meanwhile, had lost both of their opening fixtures despite showing flashes of quality and knew that anything less than a positive result would leave their knockout hopes hanging by a thread. What followed was one of the biggest surprises of the tournament so far.

Tricolor made a dream start thanks to Victor Creanga, who became the first player to score against FC Poloboc since their opening match of the day. His goal stunned the champions, and things got even better when he struck again to double the lead. FC Poloboc, who had looked so assured in their previous two outings, suddenly found themselves in unfamiliar territory as they trailed 2–0 at half-time and faced a serious test of their character. They were in trouble.

The holders attempted to respond after the break when Victor Zagoreanu reduced the deficit to 2–1, but Tricolor refused to buckle under the pressure. Creanga completed a superb hat-trick to restore the two-goal cushion, and when Sasa Buso made it 4–1, the upset was within touching distance. This was big trouble for FC Poloboc! Leonid Cigureanu pulled a goal back late on for FC Poloboc, but the reigning champions could not find another way through as Tricolor held firm to protect their advantage.

The final whistle confirmed a remarkable 4–2 victory for Tricolor and breathed new life into their qualification hopes. For FC Poloboc, the defeat represented uncharted territory. After going 21 matches unbeaten in eurofootballfives competition, they had now suffered two defeats in the same tournament for the first time and 2 defeats in 4 matches. The three-time defending champions were suddenly sweating on other results to secure a place in the Cup competition, while Tricolor had produced the result of the day and thrown Group A wide open.

Beijing Rockets went into their final Group A fixture knowing the stakes could not have been higher. With FC Poloboc's earlier defeat confirming PFC as group winners, attention turned to the tight battle for the remaining knockout qualification places, with Beijing Rockets, FC Tpaktop and Tricolor all locked on three points. For the Rockets, the task could not have been more difficult: they faced the already-qualified group leaders PFC, who had been in ruthless form throughout the tournament and were still chasing a perfect record.

From the outset, PFC showed exactly why they had topped the group, delivering a devastating first-half performance. Ricardo Teixeira continued his excellent tournament with a brace, while Fernando Cunha also struck twice to maintain his remarkable scoring consistency. Teixeira then completed his hat-trick as PFC tore through the Beijing Rockets defence, racing into a 5–0 half-time lead and effectively putting the contest beyond doubt before the interval.

The second half offered little respite for the Rockets as PFC remained in complete control. Further goals from Tiago Hilario and Wendell Santos added to the onslaught as Ricardo Balouta also got in on the act as the Brazilian side pushed their advantage further. Wendell Santos struck again to complete the Brazilian scoring. Beijing Rockets did manage a consolation goal through Nicholas Signoriello at 8–1, briefly breaking PFC's defensive control, but it did little to alter the course of the match.

The final whistle confirmed a resounding 9–1 victory for PFC, completing their perfect group stage record and reinforcing their status as one of the standout teams in the competition. For Beijing Rockets, however, the heavy defeat proved costly. With goal difference potentially decisive for knockout qualification, the margin of loss left their qualification hopes hanging by a thread as they awaited the outcome of the final Group A fixtures.

The final game of Group A was FC Tpaktop (CIS) v Tricolor (Mda). The winner would be guaranteed at least a place in the Plate. A draw would mean both teams would qualify for the Plate. A defeat probably meant the Plate as long as they avoided a goal difference of -14 or worse. This would see them slip below Beijing Rockets and be eliminated. The winner could potentially overtake FC Poloboc into 2nd and reach the Cup. Tricolor was the only team with a realistic chance of this needing a 6 goal win.

Tricolor approached the game with real intent and quickly took control through Eujeniu Cubricou, who struck twice in an impressive first-half display to put the Moldovans 2–0 ahead at the break. FC Tpaktop struggled to respond to the intensity and attacking movement, finding themselves under sustained pressure as Tricolor looked the more dangerous side throughout the opening period. After half-time, Tricolor continued to dominate proceedings and extended their advantage when Cubricou completed his hat-trick, underlining his influence on the match. Victor Creanga then added a fourth to seal a comprehensive performance, as Tricolor closed out a 4–0 victory with authority and control. FC Tpaktop were unable to find a way back into the contest, with Tricolor's defensive organisation ensuring a rare clean sheet at a crucial moment in their campaign.

The result secured Tricolor's passage into the Plate competition and briefly raised hopes of a remarkable late push towards the Cup places, although other results meant they ultimately had to settle for third in the group. FC Tpaktop would also progress to the Plate thanks to their earlier results and goal difference. Sadly for Beijing Rockets the goal difference calculations did not work in their favour and they were eliminated.
