Game 6 of Group D saw the battle of the top two when Black Sheep and Kazakhstan FC came face-to-face. A win here would mean certain Cup qualification whereas defeat would leave work to do. A draw would help both teams move 4 points clear of their nearest rivals but they would not be guaranteed a place in the Cup.

With the game underway it was the Spanish side who opened the scoring through Nick Rickard. There was then a brace from Albert Marx Garcia either side of half-time plus a Nacho Robles goal to put Black Sheep in firm control.

Kazakhstan did strike though through Brian Leigh's second goal in as many games but it was only to be a consolation as the game finished 4-1. It was a great result for Black Sheep who could relax a little. Kazakhstan knew they needed one more big performance to join them in the elite 8 teams this afternoon.

Next up were the upwardly mobile Blyborough United against Rick's Trick United. A win for Blyborough would put them in joint 2nd place with Kazakhstan FC. Rick's Trick United were looking for their first points of the day and now would be a great time to get them.

All was looking good for Blyborough when they produced a 2-0 lead by half-time thanks to Gaz Edwards and Phil Spindley. It wasn't looking good for the men from Ireland but they staged a second half recovery and scoring their first goals of the day to get back into it. They couldn't quite get the result they wanted though as Thomas Creasey scored what proved to be the winner and claim all 3 points. Blyborough drew level with Kazakhstan in 2nd but were 3rd on goal difference. For Rick's Trick United it was a much improved performance but alas for them another defeat.

Game 8 was Barley FC versus Kazakhstan FC. The former were unfortunate to be on zero points thus far due to two fine performances but suffering narrow defeats to Blyborough United and league leaders Black Sheep. The games did not get any easier though as they met Kazakhstan FC who were looking to join the Black Sheep at the top.

For Kazakhstan FC this was their last game and a must win to make the Cup as any slip up would mean a golden opportunity for Blyborough United. They narrowly missed out on the Cup back in November and would not want history to repeat itself. They would have been, therefore, more than happy to find themselves 2-1 up at the interval thanks to a Phillip Beeston double. John Bailey's strike for Barley FC kept them in touching distance though and this game was far from over.

It was over though when Beeston completed his hat-trick and gave Kazakhstan FC a 3-1 lead. This proved unassailable and the 3 points were their's. They were through to the Cup as their two challengers would meet each other in the next game. For Barley FC it was another case of close but no cigar.

The penultimate game was the big one of Group D as top placed Black Sheep met 3rd placed Blyborough United. A point for the Black Sheep would see them safely through but Blyborough needed to win for a 3-way tie at the top of Group D. It would then be down to goal difference and Blyborough United would need to win by 4 goals (or by goals if Black Sheep scored twice or more).

Blyborough would love an open game but Black Sheep would want to keep this tight. We saw a bit of both with goals at each end but one each as Nick Rickard's second of the tournament cancelled out Jim Creasey's strike. That's how it was at half-time. Time was running out for Blyborough and they needed to get their shooting boots on. The Black Sheep defence held firm though and with no addition to the scoreline the game finished 1-1. Black Sheep won the group with 10 points whilst Blyborough finisged 3rd on 7 points and narrowly missed out on the Cup. They would be a team to watch in the Plate though.

Finally in Group D, an improving Rick's Trick United took on an unfortunate-thus-far Barley FC in the game that would decide who would finish 4th and qualify for the Plate and who would finish 5th and qualify for the Wooden Spoon. It was a winner takes all tie with a draw seeing Barley FC through to the Plate due to a superior goal difference.

Barley FC strengthened their hold on 4th place when Matthew Wilson gave them an all-important lead. It was an early goal and one that would prove to be decisive. It earned his team all 3 points and Barley FC finally got the win they craved and deserved for their play over the course of the morning. Rick's Trick United came close for the second game in a row but finished 5th.
