Group C kicked off with Drunk Perfect versus Budapest Celtic Lions. The former are a multinational team all residing in Barcelona who made their debut in the 2011 Barca Fives recently in November. They were 3rd place in their group behind England's El A Dees and Japan's Samurai Japan earning them a place in the Cup as one of the highest finishing 3rd placed teams. Eventual champions Midshires FC ended their run in the Cup Quarter-Finals, 2-0. Budapest Celtic Lions were 2nd in their group in the 2011 Budapest Fives behind Olympic Phil Babb and then went out in the Cup Quarter-Finals to Pici Gol.

So, on paper, two evenly matched teams. On the pitch it was the Lions of Budapest Celtic who forged ahead as two goals from Stefan Gruber gave them a commanding 2-0 lead. Drunk Perfect were not to be beaten though and goals from Jose Jovena and Stefano Vaiarelli got them back into the match. It was not to be enough though as second half goals from Nicolas Landy and Sean Campbell gave the Lions a 4-2 win.

In Game 2 of Group C it was Banter Bus FC versus Bozeat. Banter Bus FC, hailing from London, were making their debut in eurofootballfives.com action playing against a Bozeat team who had experience of our Krakow tournament under their belt. As we mentioned with their All Stars squad, they finished 2nd in their opening group behind Dutch team and eventual Runners-Up, CEPL. They progressed to the Cup group and finished 4th overall in the tournament.

Banter Bus opened the scoring in this fixture when Ashley Hamilton scored his team's first European goal and it was to prove a very valuable strike as the goal that earned his team all 3 points. Bozeat tried to get on level terms but were unable to due to the Banter Bus defence and goalkeeper, David Coleman.

The final team to begin their campaign in Group C was Have Ago Heroes of England against Spanish team Drunk Perfect. Have Ago Heroes were making their debut and we're sure they were champing at the bit to get their campaign underway.

Drunk Perfect were already a game in to their challenge and were seeking their first points of the day. Looking at the first half of this game and the results of the other two it was clear Group C was going to be one of the most keenly contested in this year's Barcelona's Fives.

There was nothing to split these two teams in a goalless first period. In the second half we did witness some goals with Ash Wainwright scoring for Have Ago Heroes cancelled out by Drunk Perfect's Feri Fernandez. There endeth the scoring as the match was drawn, 1-1.

Budapest Celtic Lions were back in action looking to build upon their opening game victory. Their opponents were Banter Bus FC who were also looking to continue their form with a second win.

Although early on in Group C, these two teams were sitting on top of the table and a win here would put them in a commanding position to qualify for the Cup. A draw would not be the end of the world and give each team a solid platform to continue their campaign.

When all was done and dusted in this game, Budapest Celtic Lions emerged victorious by the narrowest of margins, 1-0, as Sean Campbell put the ball in the onion bag to claim all 3 points. The league looked healthy for the Lions.

Bozeat and Have Ago Heroes met next looking for the result that would kickstart their tournament challenge. In such a tight group three points can go a long way and see a team rocket up the table. Up for grabs was 2nd place in Group C.

It was the latter who started the better as they forged a 1-0 lead through Leighton Wakeham. It was a lead they would hold until half-time and put them in a strong position.

Bozeat fought back through Dan Bayes but it was not enough to earn any points as Have Ago Heroes own hero was Leighton Wakeham. His second of the game proved decisive and earned his side their first win as they moved into second place on 4 points.
