Of the three teams at the top, Rapid Bosco Navas had the first opportunity to stake a claim for the Group A title when they met Doofies Dynamos. The team from Ireland needed a result to climb off the foot of the table, register their first points and avenge heavy defeat from the previous game.

It did not start well though as Dani scored first for Rapid Bosco Navas before Juaninho scored two before the break and when the teams turned round it was the Spanish who led 3-0. The second half continued in exactly the same manner as the first when Sergio made it 4-0 before Jose banged in a personal hat-trick to stretch the lead to 7-0. It was all over, Rapid were top with a 3 point lead and healthy goal difference. Time was running out for the Dynamos.

Game 7 promised to be an intriguing affair with the two teams, now in second place, Budapest Celtic Tigers and Bozeat All Stars came head to head. It promised to be another tight affair and that's the way it proved. We reached half-time and we were still level at 0-0. A draw was not the end of the world but did not really help either side. A win would be a huge step towards Cup qualification.

Could either side take that step and break the deadlock? The answer was yes and it was Peti Hegedus of the Tigers who struck the vital blow. There was time for Mark Servatius to double the lead and secure the result. Budapest Celtic Tigers went joint top (although second on goal difference). Bozeat All Stars were in 3rd with Cup qualification still possible but a long shot with one game to go.

Hertford Brigands were next on pitch against Doofies Dynamos. With two wins and other results going their way, the Brigands could conceivably make the Cup but they needed to win now. Maybe more realistic was Plate qualification for both teams but they would need a result here. A draw would suit the Brigands more in this respect whilst defeat for the Dynamos would consign them to the Wooden Spoon competition.

Hertford Brigands flew out the traps as James Green put them ahead and by half-time they had raced into a 3-0 lead with goals from Duncan Camp and a second from James Green. The result was pretty much done and dusted but there was still plenty of football to play and Doofies Dynamos managed to pull a goal back for 3-1 but it was too little too late. Hertford Brigands picked up 3 points and joined Bozeat All Stars on 4 points in joint 3rd.

Game 9 was effectively a winner takes all affair between Rapid Bosco Navas and Bozeat All Stars with the former only needing a draw to secure a place in the Cup. Bozeat All Stars needed a win to put them level with Rapid and Budapest Celtic Tigers plus a big win to overturn goal difference. There was still a chance we could have a 4-way tie at the top should Hertford Brigands defeat the Tigers. There were endless possibilities in theory but matters on the pitch were all important.

Once we were underway it was Rapid Bosco Navas who lived up to their name with a ‘Rapid' start. They took the initiative through Juaninho and it was always going to be difficult for Bozeat to come back. This became even more difficult when Dani made it 2-0 and Juaninho again made it 3-0 by half-time. Rapid could taste Cup qualification and rammed home their advantage with further goals from Sergio, Luis and Juaninho (2). There was time for a consolation for the All Stars' Aiden Piper but it was all over at 7-1.

Group A would be wrapped up with Budapest Celtic Tigers and Hertford Brigands. Given the above result the equation had become a little simpler – a win for Budapest Celtic or a draw would see the Tigers qualify for the Plate. A win by 3 or more would see them crowned as Group A champions. For Hertford Brigands, they needed to win by 6 goals to go level on 7 points with the Tigers and overtake them with goal difference.

In a similar fashion to Rapid Bosco Navas's win in Game 9, Budapest Celtic Tigers scored the first, took the ascendancy, took an unassailable lead and guaranteed their place in the Cup. They also secured the margin of victory they needed to take the Group A title.

It was Martin Abel who was chief architect of the victory claiming the opening two goals to decide the destination of the points. Then, Mark Servatius cashed in with 4 goals taking his personal tally to 10. Peti Hegedus scored his 5 th of the campaign plus there was a second tournament goal for Michael Globits plus a first goal of the day for Heike Bult.

It was a big defeat for the Brigands but their comeback against Bozeat All Stars plus their win over the Dynamos showed they would have a chance in the afternoon's Plate competition.
