FNF
on Tour had booked their space in the Plate
Final. The two teams set to do battle for the
second berth in the final were Dynamo Leila
and Bullets FC. The two teams had identical
records with 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats. However,
if you look at the goal difference of the two
teams you could make a claim for Dynamo Leila
being favourites for this tie. The men in pink
had a +6 goal difference compared to a -4 goal
difference for the men in red.
Both
teams displayed their skills and determination
throughout the game, but it was Dynamo Leila
who emerged as the victors with a 1-0 win, courtesy
of a second-half goal by Ali Marshall.
The
first half saw both teams enter the match with
great energy and purpose. Dynamo Leila, known
for their attacking prowess (joint third top
scorers on the day with 9) looked to dominate
possession and create scoring opportunities
but Bullets FC's defence held firm and we reached
the break level at 0-0.
As
the second half continued Dynamo Leila's persistence
paid off. A well-executed attacking move saw
Ali Marshall send the Dynamo Leila squad into
jubilant celebrations, providing them with a
vital 1-0 lead. Following the goal, Bullets
FC tried to mount a comeback, pushing forward
with greater urgency. They created a few half-chances
and forced the Dynamo Leila defense to remain
vigilant. However, Dynamo Leila's backline held
firm. As the final whistle blew, Dynamo Leila
secured the victory and their place in a European
final.
Bullets
FC, despite the loss, can take pride in their
performance at the 2023 Amsterdam Sevens. It
was a pleasure to host them and if they return,
which we sincerely hope they will, then they
will undoubtedly be competitive and be able
to build on this display and experience.
