Round 5 of Group B and it was the final chance for each team to stake their claim for Cup or Plate qualification. We began with Humble Goats versus Bear Ballers.

Humble Goats could relax and enjoy this game as they had already secured Cup qualification and the Group B title whatever happened in this final set of fixtures. They would still want to claim victory, maintain their 100% record and continue their momentum into the knockout phase.

Bear Ballers defeat in their previous game was a particularly damaging one. They were still in the hunt for Cup qualification but it was now out of their hands and they also had the toughest fixture of any of the teams vying for that 2 nd Cup qualification place. Realistically they had to win this to give them a chance of getting through and at half-time in this game we were delicately poised with the scores locked at 0-0.

The difference between winning and losing in Group B had so often come down to who could take their chances when they came along as a lot of these games could have gone either way. It was Humble Goats who took their opportunity here with Jeremy Freyne scoring his second of the tournament. When Mattheus Alves made it 2-0 to Humble Goats the game looked up for Bear Ballers particularly as Jamal Aissa was yet to concede in the tournament.

The game finished 2-0 and Humble Goats had secured the maximum 15 points on offer. Bear Ballers remained in third position for now but they were vulnerable to the teams below them.

The final game of Group B was Apolo Legends versus FNF on Tour. This was a straight shoot-out for the second Cup qualification berth. The winner would definitely be in the Cup, if the game was a draw then FNF on Tour would finish second and join Humble Goats in the elite Cup knockout competition. If FNF on Tour were to lose this game then they would still have a place in the Plate. If Apolo Legends were to lose they would finish in fifth on goal difference and be eliminated.

The two teams were closely matched on the field and the teams could not be divided in the opening period. At 0-0, this was a result that favoured FNF on Tour. It seemed crazy but Apolo Legends could either be in the Cup if they were to make the breakthrough in the second half or be going home if FNF on Tour were to strike.

The game was on a knife edge and the stalemate would eventually be broken. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was Yuri Sanchez of Apolo Legends. It was a goal that would break the hearts of FNF on Tour's Cup hopes and also break the hearts of Bear Ballers who knew their day on the pitch would be over unless FNF on Tour could score twice in the limited time that remained.

Apolo Legends held on to their 1-0 lead and eventually won the game. The 3 points sent them soaring up the table into second place and set-up a Cup Semi-Final against Uden Filter (Den). For FNF on Tour they finished fourth and would play in the Plate. Onlooking Bear Ballers would retire to the bar.
