We were 5 games down, 5 to go in Group C as FC Miracle met CFC B. A win for the former would put FC Miracle firmly in control of Group C and, temporarily at least, open up a 6 point lead at the top of the table. A French victory would see them go level with FC Miracle on 6 points and would be an important step in their quest for the Cup.

Half time came and went and we were still level at 0-0 with the draw being more valuable to FC Miracle. A draw for the French team would be ok in the short term but leave them vulnerable to FC Hollywood and Cupid Stunts FC pulling clear of them. However a draw was better than a defeat and that's what befell them as goals from Janos Molnar and Zoltan Rajki outgunned a solitary strike from Sylvain Lhussier. FC Miracle won 2-1 and were in command of Group C.

CFC B had work to do with one game to go to join their sister squad in the Cup competition.

Game 7 was Cupid Stunts versus Bore Off United. Cupid Stunts had the opportunity to take second place outright with a victory and take full advantage of CFC B's defeat above. They played Bore Off United who were looking to register their first points of the day.

It looked good for Cupid Stunts at half-time as they led 1-0 thanks to Tom Stacey's goal. If the game ended there they would be in second place with a 3 point cushion on the teams in third. It was only half-time though and Bore Off United had it all to do – a defeat would leave them rooted to the foot of Group C and they needed to find their form fast.

They produced a quality second half and goals from Toby Gardner (2) and James Harvey turned things right around. Matthew Silley scored his second of the tournament for Cupid Stunts FC but it could not prevernt a 3-2 win for Bore Off United.

It was a result that gave us an amazing situation with four teams tied for 2nd place on 3 points. To quote Brian Moore during the Liverpool v Arsenal 1989 title decider….”It's up for grabs now”.

Two of those teams on 3 points met in the next fixture as FC Hollywood met CFC B. FC Hollywood had an advantage on the other teams in second as they had a game in hand and this was it. For CFC B this was their last match and last opportunity to stake a claim – they had to win and hope for other results. Anything less and they would be playing Plate or even Wooden Spoon football.

At half-time we were level at 0-0 and time was running out for CFC B as a draw would not really be good enough. FC Hollywood had the luxury of being able to earn a point and still have another game to secure Cup qualification. However, if they could manage a win though they would have one-foot in the Cup. That's exactly what they achieved when FC Hollywood's number 9, Dean Copping, bagged his 3rd goal of the tournament and they had won it 1-0. They were now odds on to go through with FC Miracle. It was a blow to CFC B.

With the results of the last two games coming through it meant that FC Miracle would enter their last fixture already guaranteed a place in the Cup and needing only a point to win Group C. Bore Off United needed a point to guarantee Plate football and if they could win had a chance of the Cup but would need a FC Hollywood defeat and 7-goal swing in goal difference so the odds were stacked against them for the Cup.

When Laszlo Zsolt gave FC Miracle a 1-0 lead in the opening period those odds lengthened. At only a goal adrift they still had a chance of the point they needed to secure a Plate place but goals from Janos Molnar and Laszlo Zsolt again meant this was not going to happen. Ali Phipps did find the net for Bore Off United but it would only represent a consolation in a 3-1 defeat.

Our congratulations go to FC Miracle who claimed the Group C title with a 100% record. Bore Off United would sit in 5th place on goal difference behind Cupid Stunts FC and CFC B but they could still make the Plate – they needed a heavy Cupid Stunts defeat though.

So Cupid Stunts FC and FC Hollywood would go into the last game of Group C with much to play for. FC Hollywood would only need a draw to qualify for the Cup in second position and could even afford defeat as long as it was by less than 3 goals. Cupid Stunts therefore needed that 3 goal win to make the Cup and also needed to lose by less than 6 to avoid the Wooden Spoon anything else and they would be in the Plate finishing either 3rd of 4th . A point would guarantee them third.

It started well for Cupid Stunts FC who took the early lead and were 1-0 up at half-time just as in their previous game versus Bore Off United. History repeated itself though and they were on the wrong end of another comeback as James Staroszczuk equalized for FC Hollywood. Dean Copping's 4th of the day made it 2-1 before Terence Lowe put the out of reach at 3-1. With time running out Cupid Stunts then suffered an injury blow with an awkward fall leading to a suspected dislocated elbow. It was a hugely unfortunate and unpleasant accident – we wish the unlucky player (we'll spare his name here) a full recovery. The referee then made the right decision and drew time on the game early.

It seems a little trivial in the context but congratulations to FC Hollywood for their Cup qualification. Cupid Stunts would have qualified for the Plate but understandably needed to withdraw due to the injury concern so it would be CFC B and Bore Off United who made it to the Plate.
