Group C began with FC Miracle versus Cupid Stunts. FC Miracle represent Hungary in the 2012 Algarve Open having made their nation proud at the 2011 Barca Fives in November. They made a fine debut in a difficult group finishing level on points with France's Luminy Wolves (2009 champions). They went on to make the final where they led 1-0 for a period but ultimately missed out 2-1 to a strong Midshires FC team. Can they go one step further in the Algarve?

Cupid Stunts FC were making their debut and it was a daunting opening fixture but one they took to well. They matched their opponents for long periods of the game and there was little between the two sides and in the end it was a solitary goal that decided this match.

The goal came from Zoltan Rajki whose strike was a particularly valuable one as it earned all three points for his team. For Cupid Stunts there was much to admire and much to suggest they would compete well in Group C.

Game 2 in Group C was a match between two teams who's sister clubs had already kicked off in the 2012 Algarve Open and done well so had lots to live up to. CFC B of France were following in the footsteps of CFC A who qualified for the Cup as winners of Group A. Bore Off United were following in the footsteps of FC Melts who qualified for the Cup in 2nd place in Group B – missing out on top spot by just one goal.

These squads had both reached Cup QFs in the past with CFC in the 2011 Budapest Fives and and Bore Off as part of Bridge House in the 2010 Valencia Fives. On paper then the two clubs were well matched.

With the game underway it was the French who looked more refreshed and they got off to the better start with Bruno Gasparini giving CFC B a first half lead. In the second half a strike from Pierre Gougeon wrapped up the points in a 2-0 victory.

FC Hollywood were the last team to get going in Group C and it proved to be a fiery contest against FC Miracle of Hungary. Whilst it was no Battle of Santiago (Italy v Chile, 1962 World Cup) it certainly had its tempestuous moments particularly early on.

FC Miracle were looking to build upon an opening game victory and things were looking good for them when Janos Molnar put them ahead 1-0. The game was a bit stop/start thereafter and whilst both teams had chances there was no further addition to the scoreline and the Hungarian side had completed a second successive 1-0 win over English opposition. They were making steady progress.

FC Hollywood had three more group games to get their 2012 Algarve Open challenge started in earnest.

Cupid Stunts FC took to the field for the second time when they met CFC B. The former were looking to bounce back from defeat whilst the latter were looking to build on their opening result by making it two wins out of two.

Cupid Stunts were unfortunate to go down in their first fixture and got back on track in perfect style when they took the lead through Matthew Silley for his team's first goal of the day. The early stages of this group looked like all teams were capable of beating any of their opposition and it was purely down to performance in individual games so 3 points were going to be particularly valuable. A clean sheet for Cupid Stunts goalkeeper Jimmy Spence would ensure the English team would claim 3 points and their maiden eurofootballfives.com victory. They sat in joint second with CFC B.

The game that would take us to the half-way stage of Group C was Bore Off United versus FC Hollywood. The two teams had suffered opening game defeat and another defeat here would leave them off the pace in Group C so a win would be vital to put them in the mix for Cup qualification.

At half-time we went in all square at 0-0 with a draw not much use to either team leaving them in 4th and 5th respectively. Could either team step up and claim victory? The deadlock was broken in the second half by Dean Copping of FC Hollywood. He doubled the lead shortly after and his side were well on the way to victory. The scoring did not end there as Terence Lowe made it 3-0 and it was a very important goal as it sent FC Hollywood second on goal difference.

Bore Off United were looking up at the other teams in Group C but if they could grab a couple of wins in their last two games they could still make progress.
