At 10.00 on Saturday the 17 th October the eagerly awaited start of the 2009 Valencia Fives began. Group A kicked us off with the simultaneous fixture of 9 Nana Budds versus CSF Oz on Pitch A and Shabbier versus Art Hosteleria on Pitch B. 9 Nana Budds raced to the perfect start as they found themselves 4-0 up at half-time. It was to get even better in the second half as they reached double figures putting 10 past overworked CSF goalkeeper Rahul Pansere. CSF managed a consolation when cult hero Michael ‘MoFo' Ofori spoilt the 9 Nana Budds clean sheet. Goals were shared around for the 9 Nana Budds with Jack Kennedy and Alex Easter each bagging a brace. There was also a goal each from Rob Crowther, Will Crowther, Gary MyHill, Tim Moore, Andy Egerton and Paul Taylor. The 10-1 final score unsurprisingly putting 9 Nana Budds top and adding to CSF Oz's hangovers.

On Pitch B there was a simultaneously fast start with forwards enjoying the brand new playing surface on offer. In the all-Spanish encounter it was Shabbier who took the initiative as they forged a 4-1 advantage at the break. The second half proved to be a closer as Art Hosteleria worked themselves into the game. There was just one further addition to the scoreline as Shabbier completed a solid 5-1 victory. Two goals from MP Matthews and further goals from Luka Zak, Craig Matthews and Sam Gabriel earned the victory. Agusti Lopez Nacher with the first goal of the tournament for Art Hosteleria.
