The 2011 eurofootballfives.com European tour moved on to Krakow for our 6th tournament in Poland's party capital. For us, this was a return to where it all began in April 2007 with the very first eurofootballfives.com tournament. 31 tournaments later and we were much looking forward to see who would be crowned 2011 Krakow Trophy champions.

Group A would be kicked off by two debut teams in the form of Bozeat All Stars and CEPL. CEPL were the second team to represent Holland in Europe (outside of the Amsterdam Fives) and had a tough act to follow as previous Dutch travellers Athletico Do Hollande had won the 2010 Algarve Open.

When the game got underway the English team were to find it tough against the team from Holland as Rakesh Dewoe put the men from Tilburg 1-0 up. In truth, the game was very even and Bozeat All Stars got back on level terms in the second half through Dan Bayes. When the referee blew up for full time it was honours even as both teams took a point with the final score 1-1.

When Atlantic Star and Hutnik were due to kick-off the Polish team was yet to arrive and therefore Atlantic Star were awarded a walkover win. Probably the easiest 3-0 win they would ever have!

When Atlantic Star got their campaign underway on the pitch itself it was against Alphasights. Atlantic Star was the most capped travelling team in the tournament making Krakow their 6 th appearance following trips to the 2008 and 2009 Prague Trophy, 2009 Krakow Trophy, 2010 Manchester Fives and 2010 Valencia Fives. Their best performances to date have been two Cup semi-finals in 2009 and, most recently, winning the Plate competition in Manchester back in July 2010. Alphasights, by contrast, were making their eurofootballfives.com debut.

In the first half, it looked like the greater experience for Atlantic Star was paying dividends as Aaron Conneran scored their first of the day before Paul Costello made it 2-0. It was a solid half-time lead and although Alphasights got back into the contest in the second period the damage was already done. Atlantic Star took their points tally to six, Alphasights had 3 group games left so plenty of time to recover from opening game defeat.

Hutnik of Poland were still to arrive when their game against Bozeat All Stars was scheduled. Hutnik are the only team to play in all eurofootballfives' Krakow tournaments even winning the event just 12 months ago. It was therefore hugely disappointing they were not here to defend their title. Bozeat All Stars wouldn't mind too much though as they claimed 3 points via a walkover.

The game that would take us to the half-way stage of Group A was CEPL against Alphasights. With a win under their belt already, CEPL seemed to be taking to eurofootballfives competition like a duck to water. Alphasights must have wondered what they had done to upset the Dutch as they were on the wrong end of a 4-0 half-time scoreline. Maslah Yahya opened the scoreline before Tonie Heeren made it 2-0 and then 3-0. Rakesh Dewoe then scored for the second game in a row.

In the second half it didn't get any better as Dewoe bagged a hat-trick to take his tally to 4 in the game and 5 in the tournament in just two games. An early contender for the top goalscorer prize?

There was some consolation for Alphasights though as tour leader Rob Wootton scored their first of the day and denied Piotrek Kurlecki a second successive clean sheet. Final score, 7-1.
