The
final game was the already qualified Azmot versus
Over Crusaders II. The big question was could
Over Crusaders II put the disappointment of their
last game defeat behind them when they had Cup
qualification 99% sealed but now had to gain victory
against Azmot who had 6 wins out of 6. The Over
Crusaders II showed an awful lot of character
and matched their opponents tackle for tackle
to go into the break at 0-0 but they still needed
a goal. Without it, Hutnik would go through.
In
complete contrast to the first half we saw goals
aplenty in the second period. It was first blood
to Over Crusaders II when Andy Smith scored the
goal his team needed and as things stood it was
Over Crusaders II who were in the Cup. As in their
last game though they let a 1-0 lead slip and
quickly found themselves 2-1 behind as Tomasz
Armatys and Szymou Zelasko gave the Polish (Azmot
and Hutnik!) something to cheer. Just as Over
Crusaders II were being written off they did to
Azmot what FCB Helles had done to them and come
back from the dead in the final minutes. Liam
White made up for the own goal by drawing the
two teams level at 2-2 before Andy Smith scored
with virtually the last kick of the game to make
it 3-2 which is how it finished. It was a stunning
comeback and especially so when you consider the
strength of the opposition.
Over
Crusaders II had qualified for the Cup in fantastic
style and in the process had ended Hutnik's hopes
of winning the 2010 Krakow Cup as they pushed
them down to 5th place. Hutnik had gone 5 games
unbeaten but were paying the price for a slow
start and two opening defeats. Did Over Crusaders
II care? Did they hell. The Cup awaited them.
