The
2015 Barcelona Fives Trophy Final would see FC
Atwood meet Equipo de Cristhian. Let's have a
look at our two contenders;
FC
Atwood
A
good record today with 3 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats
especially when you consider the controversial
nature of their opening game where the winning
goal against them should not have counted. They
had been free-scoring with 16 goals for and 11
goals against. They had scored 10 goals in their
last 2 games alone.
Equipo
de Cristhian
A
similar results record of 3 wins, 1 draw and 2
defeats. They had not scored as many as their
opponents with 11 goals so far today but had the
tighter defence with 8 goals conceded. They had
scored 7 in their last two games but also really
tightened up at the back with just the 1 conceded
in the knock-out stage.
This
was our 8th Trophy competition and the 3rd at
the Barcelona Fives with Equipo de Cristhian looking
to become the first Spanish team to claim success.
Drunk Perfect (due to kick-off in the Plate Final
after this game) had come closest with a penalty
shoot-out defeat here in 2013. Elcombe Old Boys
who had just been defeated in today's Cup Semi-Final
were the current holders of the Barcelona Fives
Trophy (defeating Germany's SV Zoo 5-0 last year)
so could FC Atwood keep the Trophy in English
hands with victory?
On
the field of play it was Equipo de Cristhian who
struck first in front of a large crowd on Pitch
D. Jair Moralez opened the scoring in the Semi-Final
and he was to do the same here in the Final. In
fact, Jair Moralez was proving to be the man for
the big game as he added a second to put Equipo
de Cristhian 2-0 up and in firm control of the
match. He put the icing on the cake with a hat-trick
to make it 3-0 and wrap up the win. Jair Moralez
became the third man to score a hat-trick in a
eurofootballfives.com Trophy Final after Matt
Johnson (Sporting Abeergut – Valencia Fives 2012)
and Matej Rapcan (Ziar Crew – Bratislava Fives
2014).
We
offer our commiserations to FC Atwood who had
played well in their first eurofootballfives.com
competition. It should be noted they played the
whole tournament, comprising 7 games, with just
the 5 players and as such did not have the chance
to rest legs and lungs with substitutions. They
had goals across the whole squad and with an extra
body or two and without the early referee decision
that cost them could well have gone further in
this tournament.
It
was a superb victory for the Spanish team who
won the Trophy conceding just 1 in the knock-out
phase and scoring 10 in the process. The
2015 Barcelona Fives Trophy Winners – Equipo de
Cristhian.
