Game 6 of Group A was the mouth-watering prospect of Luminy Wolves versus FC Miracle as the two teams at the top of the table came into direct competition. A win here for either team would guarantee them qualification for the Cup with a game to spare. What ensued was arguably the best game of the group stages.

It was a game where both teams clearly respected their opposition and were totally committed in their approach as if this was the Final – and you never know, at 16.00 this afternoon it could well prove to be the Final. Let's not get ahead of ourselves though and deal with this game. Luminy Wolves took the lead through Allan Gosselin but FC Miracle hit back courtesy of Zoltan Kedves. 1-1 at half-time.

In the second period Luminy Wolves took the lead once more and again it was Gosselin with an absolute thunderbolt arrowed into the top corner. FC Miracle were not to be beaten though and for the second time in the game they equalized. It was Janos Molnar who put the teams level at 2-2 and his goal earned a valuable point.

It was a great game and you have to say a draw was the right result between two fine teams.

Next up was Hiscox Bulls versus Futbol7. The previous result opened the door for Futbol7 to close in on the leaders and put the Spanish just one point behind the French and Hungarians. Hiscox Bulls were looking to put a spanner in the works and claim a victory to put them level with Futbol7 and still in with a shout of making the Cup via being one of the top 3rd placed teams.

The first-half was a pretty even contest and there was to be just the one goal to separate the two sides. The goal was scored by Maycas and Futbol7 led 1-0. If the first-half was close the second half was wide open and Futbol7 took full advantage to put Hiscox Bulls to the sword. Maycas went on to score a hat-trick plus there were goals from Albert and Javi to complete a 5-0 win. The result was a great one for Futbol7 and meant they were guaranteed at least third. The defeat meant Hiscox Bulls would be fighting for 4th place with a game to go.

Arse-A-Lona had a game in hand on the other teams and it was against FC Miracle. The English team still had a say in this group and if they could win their last two games were still very much in the Cup qualification picture. It would not be easy against a very good Hungarian team in FC Miracle who still had a lot to play for. Despite great results thus far, FC Miracle still needed another to finish a job and a win here would through down the gauntlet to Luminy Wolves for the Group A title.

FC Miracle maintained their form in this fixture and through one man in particular made it four games unbeaten. Janos Gal struck a superb hat-trick and outgunned Arse-A-Lona to take all 3 points and finish Group A on 10 points. Arse-A-Lona would now go into their final game for a straight shoot-out for fourth with Hiscox Bulls.

Game 9 was potentially the most interesting of Group A as Luminy Wolves met Futbol7. A win for Luminy Wolves by 2 goals would see them take the Group A title, a win by one goal or a draw would see them finish 2nd. A win for Futbol7 would see FC Miracle win the group, Futbol7 finish second and leave Luminy Wolves down in third place – and potentially out of the Cup subject to results in other groups. That would have been unforeseeable at the half-way stage.

So, with the pressure on and the teams' fates all down to this game who could pull out the vital performance? Allan Gosselin opened the scoring for Luminy Wolves with his fourth goal of the day to put his team in the driving seat. The goal that clinched the result was taken by Haikel Ben Khelifa which not only won the game but won Group A for Luminy Wolves as the game finished 2-0. Futbol7 would finish 3rd and hope their points tally would see them through to the Cup as one of the top two 3rd placed teams.

The final game of Group A was Hiscox Bulls against Arse-A-Lona FC. The result in terms of Cup/Plate qualification was meaningless as both teams would play in the Plate. However, there was still much to play for as the teams were playing for pride, aiming for 4th place and with it a theoretically easier Plate Quarter-Final fixture.

A win for either team here would see them finish fourth and a draw would see Arse-A-Lona finish fourth courtesy of their superior goal difference. The two teams treated us to four goals and it perhaps seemed fitting that the two teams would share the goals and share the points. For Hiscox Bulls, there were goals for William Waddell-Dudley (his second of the tournament) and Oliver Woodward. For Arse-A-Lona, Jack Croft turned in a captain's performance with a brace.
