Game 6 threw FCB Dunkles and Eagles UnAthletic together. FCB Dunkles were so far without a win and things did not start any better for them in this game. Eagles UnAthletic would go joint top with a win and Chris Payne's strike gave them every chance of doing just that.

This was a proverbial game of two halves and FCB Dunkles roared back in the second period as Neil Donovan drew them level at 1-1. If Dunkles were looking for a hero that hero was Donovan as he bagged his second of the game to put the Biermeisters 2-1 up. It was a lead they were to hold on to and not relinquish. It was also a win that was desperately needed after two opening defeats. The win meant that FCB Dunkles joined a cluster of 4 teams on 3 points in Group D – behind Cheesecake the group was wide open.

Talking of Cheesecake FC, they were back in action against Olhanense of Portugal. The team from England were in a great position in this group knowing a win would give them an unassailable 6 point lead in Group D. For Olhanense a win would put them level with Cheesecake FC and a chance to break free from the chasing pack.

Justin Rees, Australian captain of Cheesecake FC opened the scoring with the only goal of the first half. Phil Shaw made it 2-0 in the second period and there was no way back from Olhanense. It was now three wins out of three for Cheesecake and their form was looking good. They were quickly emerging as one of the favourites for the tournament along with Athletico Do Hollande and Goldsmith Williams.

For Olhanense it was a defeat that meant they still had a lot to do going into their final game.

Game 8 was an opportunity for Mysterious Dwarves and Eagles UnAthletic to stake their claim for a place in the Cup behind Cheesecake FC. With 4 teams still on 3 points this was a great chance to put some daylight between them and the rest of the chasing pack. A draw would really play into the hands of FCB Dunkles and Olhanense.

It was Mysterious Dwarves who asserted their position first as Chazza scored his second goal of the tournament to give his team a 1-0 lead. It was do or die time for Eagles UnAthletic now as this was their last game whereas Mysterious Dwarves still had a game to go so they had a little cushion.

Eagles UnAthletic were unable to get the equalizer they craved as the game finished 1-0. A great result for Mysterious Dwarves but Eagles UnAthletic would have to wait upon results to see if the rest of their tournament lay in the Plate or the Wooden Spoon.

All games were crucial now as Group D drew closer to its conclusion. None more so than Game 9 as FCB Dunkles and Olhanense came head-to-head.Both teams were on 3 points and needed a win to join Mysterious Dwarves on 6 points and a chance to make the Cup. Defeat would mean Plate/Wooden Spoon whereas a draw would guarantee both a place in the Plate.

FCB Dunkles came into the came on the back of a win whereas Olhanense had slumpled to defeat against Cheesecake FC. You would expect FCB Dunkles to go into the game high on confidence and maybe that helped them take control of the game in the opening period thanks to goals from Dom Bouloux and Danny Griffiths.

Although they were in control at 2-0 the game was not over as Olhanense showed some fighting spirit. They clawed their way back into the game with goals from Rave Do'O and Albertino Paulos's third goal of the tournament. The comeback was not a complete one though as Dom Bouloux's second of the game proved to be the match-winner. It was a great win for FCB Dunkles and a great comeback from 2 defeats with 2 wins. They had given themselves a chance of the Cup by moving into 2nd place – they just needed Cheesecake FC to beat Mysterious Dwarves in the final game and they would be one of the elite 8 teams in the afternoon Cup draw.

Things were less bright for Olhanense as they sat in 5th place and knew that they would be playing for a little wooden utensil in the afternoon.

Game 10 was far from academic as Cheesecake FC met Mysterious Dwarves. Mysterious Dwarves needed to avoid defeat to join Cheesecake FC in the Cup. If they could win and win by four goals they could even beat Cheesecake FC to the Group D title.

You could forgive Cheesecake FC for taking their foot of the gas as they were already through but we are sure they would want to win the group and avoid Goldsmith Williams in the Cup Quarter-Finals. FCB Dunkles would also have been cheering as Justin Rees scored for the second consecutive game to give Cheesecake FC a first-half lead.

Mysterious Dwarves were now staring at the Plate competition but only needed one goal to lift them into 2nd place. Could they do it? Yes they could but they left it late until Sean Talbor applied the finish that would see them take second place with a 1-1 draw and thereby knocking FCB Dunkles down into 3rd and the Plate.

Well done to Mysterious Dwarves and congratulations of course to Cheesecake FC on their Group D title.
