FC Dad were competing in their third eurofootballfives.com final. At the 2012 Valencia Fives they lost the Trophy final in a thriller, 3-2, to Sporting Abeergut. Then, more recently, at the 2019 Barcelona Fives they narrowly lost 1-0 to PVDC Eindhoven. Could it be third time lucky for FC Dad?

The stage was set, let's get the action underway. It was a very even contest and there was very little to choose between the two teams as you would expect from two teams who had drawn 0-0 when they met earlier in the day in Group A. Goals were likely to be at a premium and it was perhaps no surprise that when the goal came it arrived from a set piece. Calum Jones thumped a free-kick past the Boca Seniors wall and goalkeeper to make it 1-0 to FC Dad. It was a lead that the English team would maintain until half-time.

Boca Seniors Warsaw were only a goal behind but they had a monumental task on their hand as FC Dad had not conceded for 4.5 games. If they could stretch that to 5 games then they would win the Plate.

Boca Seniors Warsaw through everything they could at FC Dad but there was no way through. The English teams' defence largely restricted their opponents to shots from distance with Graham Dodds in goal up to the task. Eventually, the sands of time ran out on Boca Seniors Warsaw as the referee wrapped up proceedings.

First of all we offer our consolations to Boca Seniors Warsaw on a fine campaign – they could not have got much closer to the Plate winners' trophy. It was a great debut and a pleasure to host the team.

Huge congratulations go to our 2020 Warsaw Tournament Plate champions though – FC Dad. A breakthrough achievement on a milestone tour.
