This was a heavyweight clash worthy of the Utrecht Sevens semi-final stage, as two of the tournament's standout performers went head-to-head. Young Stars of Romania arrived with a perfect record, five wins from five games, and were now unbeaten in 12 eurofootballfives.com matches since their debut (11 wins, 1 draw). Having lifted the Amsterdam Sixes title in 2025, they were looking to add another trophy to their growing collection. Standing in their way were Judas FC of England, who had been equally impressive, going into the game unbeaten themselves with four victories and one draw. Something had to give, and this promised to be one of the games of the tournament.

It was Judas FC who made the perfect start and stunned the Romanian side by taking the lead in the first half. Sam Dixon was the man to break the deadlock. Until this point, the Romanian champions had not fallen behind in a single game of the tournament, so this was a new test of their character. Young Stars would have been confident of fighting back from a one-goal setback, but Judas FC soon made their challenge even harder. Sam Dixon struck again to double the advantage, putting the English side 2-0 ahead.

At half-time, Judas FC had one foot in the final, but there was still a huge second half to come. Their goalkeeper Jay Walsh and the Judas FC defence had already recorded three clean sheets in their opening five matches, but keeping out a Young Stars team containing tournament top scorer Madalin Stelariu was going to be their biggest challenge yet. Stoleriu, who had scored eight goals during the tournament and claimed the Golden Boot at last year's Amsterdam Sixes, was the obvious danger man, and Young Stars pushed forward relentlessly in search of a way back into the match.

However, Judas FC produced a superb display of defensive organisation, discipline, and game management. Young Stars threw everything forward, but they could not find a way past a resolute English defence. Judas FC were always a threat on the counter-attack and would have loved to have added a third goal to put the result beyond any doubt, but in the end they did not need it. They saw out clean sheet #4 and the match professionally to secure a famous 2-0 victory and book their place in the Utrecht Sevens Cup final.

It was a landmark moment for Judas FC, who had defeated one of the tournament's strongest teams and ended Young Stars' incredible unbeaten run. While Young Stars' first defeat in eurofootballfives.com competition came in their 13th match, there was no doubt that their tournament had been another outstanding success. They had shown once again why they are one of the leading teams on the circuit, and they will surely return stronger in their next appearance. For now though, all the congratulations belong to Judas FC, who delivered a memorable semi-final performance and moved one step away from lifting the Utrecht Sevens trophy.

The second Cup semi-final brought together two teams who had impressed throughout the Utrecht Sevens, with Blue Balls FC of England taking on Billareal of the Netherlands. Blue Balls FC had remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, extending that run to five matches after surviving a dramatic quarter-final penalty shootout against Nuremberga Warriors. Billareal had taken a slightly more straightforward route through the knockout stages, following up a strong group campaign with a commanding 4-0 quarter-final victory over Purgatory FC. With both teams possessing plenty of attacking quality, this promised to be a thrilling encounter — and it certainly lived up to expectations.

The game exploded into life from the opening stages, with Billareal taking the lead through Your van Ingen, who continued his remarkable tournament by scoring his sixth goal of the competition. Blue Balls FC responded quickly, though, and Peter Boyd brought the English side level to make it 1-1. The momentum then swung again as Blue Balls FC completed the turnaround, with Refaya Davis putting them 2-1 ahead. Billareal, however, were not prepared to let their opponents take control, and the prolific Your van Ingen struck again before the interval to score his seventh goal of the day and bring the teams level at 2-2 at half-time.

The second half continued in exactly the same dramatic fashion. Blue Balls FC once again edged in front when Peter Boyd scored his second goal of the match and fifth of the tournament, putting his team 3-2 ahead. It looked like it could be the decisive moment, but Billareal had shown throughout the tournament that they were a side full of attacking threat. They responded once more, with Ben Duthler finding the net for his fourth goal of the competition to make it 3-3. Neither team could find the winning goal after that, meaning, just like the previous quarter-final for Blue Balls FC, the semi-final would have to be decided by penalties.

Blue Balls FC would have been confident heading into the shootout after their previous penalty success against Nuremberga Warriors, but knockout football brings no guarantees, and this time it was Billareal who held their nerve. Blue Balls FC took the first penalty, but Peter Boyd saw his effort saved by Bert Hendrik Mostert. Daniel Hammink stepped up for Billareal and calmly converted to give the Dutch side the advantage. Luke Dobson then had his penalty saved as well, leaving Billareal one successful kick away from the final. They made no mistake, with captain Hans Helligers scoring to secure a 2-0 shootout victory.

It was a heartbreaking end for Blue Balls FC, who had been outstanding throughout the Utrecht Sevens. They finished their tournament unbeaten in normal time, showed tremendous defensive strength and resilience, and pushed Billareal all the way in a thrilling semi-final. Having already survived one penalty shootout, they came incredibly close to reaching the final, but ultimately it was not to be. For Billareal, it was another superb performance in a tournament where they had consistently impressed. After a dominant quarter-final victory, they showed character to twice come from behind against Blue Balls FC and held their nerve from the penalty spot. They now move on to the Cup final, where they will face Judas FC for the Utrecht Sevens title.
