It was Alphasights versus FC Biermeisters in the next game. Due to opening game defeat Alphasights were in 7th position but as there were 7 group games for each team there was no reason to panic and plenty of time to climb the league ladder.

 

FC Biermeisters were one of 4 teams sandwiched in the middle of the table due to an opening game draw. At half-time we were looking at another draw as we were still locked at 0-0. These teams really were very close in standard as you would expect.

 

The game was to give us a goal and it was Alphasights who claimed it as Johannes Koch opened his team's account for the day and secured a vital win that sent them from 7th to 2nd in the fledgling table but most of the other sides were still to play in Round 2 of course.

 

Narrow defeats are always tough to take so this would have been a bitter pill for FC Biermeisters to take. Still, encouraging performances and plenty of points on offer.

 
 
 

In the next game we had two teams who had claimed 0-0 draws in the opening round of games. It was Hungary versus Czech Republic as Csabagyongye met GBS Reds.

 

Balint Szimler gave Csabagyongye a 1-0 lead in the opening period and David Kemeny added to this in the second half. The Hungarians did not have it all their own way though as Josef Salatek opened the GBS Reds account. His goal was in a losing cause though as Csabagyongye ran out 2-1 winners and went top of the table.

 
 
 

The next match was the scheduled fixture of Al Kaloida versus SV Zoo. The German team claimed their 3 points as Saipan FC had done before and other teams would later. This lifted them up to 6 points and gave them a rest between fixtures.

 
 
 

Saipan FC were finally underway and we apologise to them for the long wait. Budapest was to be Saipan FC's 3rd appearance. On their previous two outings they have finished Plate Runners-Up in the 2011 Prague Masters (narrowly via Golden Goal) and Cup Runners-Up in the 2012 Barcelona Fives (narrowly via Golden Goal). Could it be third time lucky for Saipan FC?

 

They must have been champing at the bit to get their campaign started but when they did they may have been rusty against a New Milton Eagles team that had already had a game to grow into this tournament. Chris Haines struck the blow for the English team and they lead 1-0 at half-time.

 

There was to be no addition to the score after the interval and New Milton Eagles were sat in a healthy position at the end of Round 2.
