Al Kaloida (Hun)

MacBengals (Eng)

Real So So Bad (Eng)

Deportivo Lack of Talent (Eng)

Al Kaloida and MacBengals had both reached the Plate Semi-Finals courtesy of penalty shoot-outs. Al Kaloida were on a bit of a roll finding themselves unbeaten in three games, MacBengals were unbeaten in two.

The early signs were that it was going to be Al Kaloida who extended their run as they raced into a two goal advantage thanks to Denes Zoltai and Matyus Mate. It would require a great show of strength for MacBengals to recover the situation and one they almost pulled off.

They bounced back with two goals of their own in the second half as Ali Phipps dragged them back into it and Olly Gardner's fourth goal of the tournament meant they had a chance to at least take the game into another penalty shoot-out. Al Kaloida's Peter Garadi had other ideas though and his goal ultimately proved decisive as the Hungarian team won the match 3-2.

It was a spirited fightback by MacBengals but not quite enough. Their tournament was over but they have already declared an interest in plating in the 2011 Valencia Fives and we very much look forward to seeing them in action in sunny Spain.

The second Plate Semi-Final would see two teams from the same stable come head-to-head as Real So So Bad met Deportivo Lack of Talent. Both teams were part of the same stag weekend (along with Dyslexia Untied) so at least one of their group would be able to contest a Budapest final.

Such derby games can often be strange ones to play in as you've come a long way to play against your mates but tournaments can sometimes throw up these fixtures. When you play against your mates the games can sometimes lose their intensity but each team should remain focused that a place in a European final was at stake.

The teams arrived at half-time still level at 0-0 an not much sign of a goal. Thankfully in the second half we saw some goals to avoid the lottery of penalties and when the referee brought the game to a conclusion it was Deportivo Lack of Talent who emerged victorious 2-0. Handshakes all round but Real So So Bad were out.
