As we entered the fifth round of games each match was becoming progressively more important. Games were running out and points were becoming increasingly valuable.

The league leaders were up next for their fourth fixture. They were currently out on top on 9 points. If they could maintain their 100% record they would open up a 6 point gap at the top and go a long way to securing Cup qualification with 1 or maybe 2 games to spare (subject to other results elsewhere). In their way stood Mardons FC who were contesting their fifth game. They came into this game on the back of a fine win against Barrymoore's Swimming Club and another such giant-killing here would see them move up to second place in Group B.

For the fourth game in a row we would have a 1-0 result in Group B. Mardons FC certainly gave Club Esportiu Llefia but they were unable to breach the Spanish defence – they were not alone in that as CE Llefia were yet to concede in the entire tournament. At the other end Javi Cuadrado Ordonez's strike meant it was another 3 points for Club Esportiu Llefia.

Mardons FC showed how evenly matched the teams in Group B were, the difference came in both boxes and Club Esportiu Llefia showed why they were top by being clinical.

Barrymoore's Swimming Club and Mitre FC B would come into their fourth fixtures licking their wounds a little bit as they had both tasted defeat last time out. However, both teams still had a share of second position in the group table. With Club Esportiu Llefia now out in front on 12 points it increasingly looked like 1 team from 3 fighting for the second Cup qualification spot.

The teams in Group B had been dealing in binary over the last few games but we were to get more than the solitary goal in this tie. It was Mitre FC B who drew first blood through Rishi-Ryan Patel as they looked to get back to winning ways. Having gone 9 group games unbeaten in our events, it would be unthinkable that Barrymoore's Swimming Club would lose 2 on the trot and they did their best to avoid this when Jason James levelled the scores at 1-1.

Whilst clearly better than a defeat, a draw would not help either team too much in the context of the group table. It would open up both teams to fall behind Bjorn Helge Ri'se's Pieces if they won their game in hand. A winner would be a massive boost for either of these teams and we were to get a third and winning goal. Ryan Reed had scored twice before today and he was on target for a third time as his strike sealed all three points for Barrymoore's Swimming Club. A vital win for them.

Game 15 of Group B saw the third of the triumvirate who were in joint second place (before the start of game 14) enter Pitch D. It was Bjorn Helge Riise's Pieces who were ‘away' to Dumpling CF. They needed a win to keep pace with Barrymoore's Swimming Club.

Dumpling CF started this game in sixth place and, with a win of their own, could potentially join the band of teams on 6 points and keep their hopes of Cup qualification very much alive. Anything less than a win for them would probably mean their knockout phase fate would lie in the Plate competition.

Following the flurry of goals in Game 14 we were back to dealing with narrow 1-0 victories. There was a football chant of “1-0 to the Arsenal” but that may need to change to “1-0 to the Bjorn Helge Riise's Pieces”. Admittedly, it's not as catchy and doesn't scan as well but you can't have everything.

Goalkeeper Stuart Astle and his defence kept clean sheet number 3 whilst Jack Thomas scored the goal that earned his team a third successive 1-0 victory. It was a victory that took them up into second position on goal difference. With 2 rounds to go they were well placed for Cup qualification.

Dumpling CF slipped to a fourth defeat but their goal difference of just -2 showed how competitive they had been. It was a harsh looking table from their perspective.
