Apolo
Leyendas's win meant that John Arne Riise's
Pieces and RSC Andylecht would come into this
game in 6th and 4th place in the table respectively.
The former did have a game in hand which is
important to point out. If RSC Andylecht could
win this game they would move up to a share
of third place. If John Arne Riise's Pieces
could emerge victorious they would move up to
fourth place.
As
it turned out neither team could find a way
to win the game. Defences were on top for both
teams despite the efforts of the attacking players
to find a way to break the stalemate.
The
game finished goal-less and the teams would
have to settle for a point each. The draw realistically
meant Cup qualification was now a three horse
race with the teams above them in the table.
Finishing as high up the table as possible was
now the priority in order to take momentum into
the knockout phase and also to secure the best
possible draw for the Quarter-Finals.
