Group B was shaping up very nicely but there were two teams hoping to get their campaign up and running. Old Boys Blue Magic Dublin were looking for their first win of the day. Son Les Onze were looking for their points of the day.

Old Boys Blue Magic Dublin would no doubt come into this game on a bit of a high having recovered from two down to clinch a draw against Sharks last time out. They would be hoping to continue that momentum into this game but they found themselves a goal down early on. Carlos Valenzuela was the man to score the goal that put Son Les Onze. It was a 1-0 lead they would maintain until the half-time interval.

Things got even better for Son Les Onze in the second half as Jose Valenzuela put his team 2-0 ahead. This was not an unsurmountable lead as we would see on a number of occasions today including from Old Boys Blue Magic Dublin who had recovered from that same score themselves. It was not a feat that the Polish team could repeat though as Son Les Onze kept a clean sheet and took all 3 points.

The next match on Pitch B in Group B was a tasty prospect. It was a top of the table clash between Club Esportiu Llefia and Sharks. Currently Club Esportiu Llefia enjoyed their position at the summit courtesy of a 100% record with a sensational 11 goals in 2 games scored. It would be tough for Sharks to win this one but if they could they would leapfrog their opponents into top spot.

Club Esportiu Llefia have appeared in every edition of this tournament since 2015. They were winners on debut (see earlier). They looked to defend their title in 2016 but could only finish third in their group of 8 teams. They secured 4 wins and 1 draw but 2 defeats meant they missed out on the Cup and went through to the Plate. They showed they meant business by beating Bruton Black Cats 7-0 in the Quarter-Finals and John Laing 2-0 in the Semi-Finals. They then defeated Leek High Boys 2-0 as they won the Plate. They became the 7th team in our history to win a Cup and a Plate title. Alfred Jimenez De Andres was the top goalscorer again as he scored 12 in 10 games.

In 2017 the team really struggled with injuries and a difficult group. They surprisingly finished bottom with just 4 points from 7 fixtures to miss out on the knock-out phase. They returned with a bang in 2018 and kicked off with a 7-0 win as they collected 4 wins and 1 draw to win their group with an unbeaten record. The form continued into the knock-out phase with a 1-0 win over compatriots AFC Underworld. Their hopes of a second Cup Final were dashed in the Semi-Finals as Lithuania's LT United defeated the home team 3-0. Then came 2019's Cup qualification and Quarter-Final exit to the eventual champions on penalties (see earlier).

This game was a fiercely contested match and there was nothing to split the teams in the opening period, 0-0. When Club Esportiu Llefia took the lead in the second period it looked like they were cementing their place as tournament favourites. However, Sharks fought back and fought back strongly. Michiel Geens equalised for Sharks and then scored a controversial winner. Club Esportiu Llefia claimed a foul in the build-up but the referee saw nothing and the goal stood. Tempers threatened to flare up but the sands of time ran out. Sharks had claimed a stunning win and now lead the way in Group B.

FC Dad were the final team to play their third fixture. With 3 points from 6 so far they were looking good but currently sat in third position. A win here would see them maintain 3rd place but the top 3 would only be separated by a point. They would also open up a 3 point gap on the teams below them. Old Boys Blue Magic Dublin could move ahead of their opponents if they could take victory in this game. It was Old Boys Blue Magic Dublin final group fixture and their final chance to stake a claim for Plate qualification.

FC Dad were looking to bounce back from defeat in their previous fixture but they found themselves behind in this one. Mateusz Sieracki opened his personal account for Old Boys Blue Magic Dublin to give his team a crucial first half lead. The Polish team from Dublin extended that lead in the second period with Michal Cedrowski scoring a fourth goal of the day. The two goal lead proved enough for all 3 points as Mariusz Kupisiak kept his team's first clean sheet of the day.

The result put Old Boys Blue Magic Dublin into third position and in with a good chance of qualifying for the Plate – subject to other results. They had done all they could and now just had to wait to see if it was enough.

80% of Group B games were now completed with just 2 to go. We could soon have our Group B winners confirmed as league leaders Sharks took to the field. They were up against Son Les Onze. Sharks had 1 draw and 2 wins to their name and came into this game on the back of a morale boosting victory over previous leaders Club Esportiu Llefia. If Sharks could win this game then they would have an unassailable 4 point lead at the summit of the table. A draw or defeat would leave them requiring FC Dad to get a result against CE Llefia.

For their part, Son Les Onze came into this match following their first win of the day. A second consecutive win would guarantee a place in the Plate and there was still an outside shot at the Cup but that was unlikely as they required CE Llefia to lose and a big swing in goal difference. Defeat for Son Les Onze would most likely mean a place in the Wooden Spoon.

There was not too much in the first half of this game. Sharks took a slender lead into the break thanks to a goal from Daniel Clavijo. In the second half though Sharks asserted their dominance as Roel Renken, Tom Frumerman and Sean Fagan all found the back of the net.

Final score 4-0. Sharks had sealed qualification to the Cup and the Group B title. Huge congratulations to them.

We went into Game 10 of Group B with Club Esportiu Llefia due to host FC Dad. These two teams had met before at the 2019 Barcelona Fives. On that occasion there was a narrow 1-0 win for the Spanish team courtesy of a Francisco Lorenzo goal.

Let's have a look at what was at stake for the two teams going into this encounter:

Club Esportiu Llefia: A draw or win would see them finish second in the table and qualify for the Cup. A defeat would also be ok as long as they didn't lose by 6 or more.

FC Dad: Avoiding defeat would secure a place in the Plate. A win by 6 or more would see them replace their opponents in second place and qualify for the Cup. Defeat would see them finish 4th as long as they didn't lose by 9 or more.

Barring something remarkable the teams probably knew their fate for the knockout phase. A close first half saw Club Esportiu Llefia lead 1-0 and the goal came from Francisco Lorenzo just as it did in the 2019 fixture. Club Esportiu Llefia extended their lead after the break as Adrian Porras Hernandez and Sergi Garcia Aguile both scored their second of the tournament.

The result dotted the I's and crossed the T's on the action in Group B as CE Llefia and FC Dad sealed 2nd and 4th positions respectively.
