In
Game 2 we had Epsilon Rovers versus AFC Basemen.
Epsilon
Rovers (Eng) made the best possible start to
life in our tournaments as they won the 2019
Amsterdam Fives. In fact, at the time of writing,
they are still the current champions. They were
strong from start to finish with 4 wins from
4 in the group phase before a 4-1 defeat to
Switzerland's Luca Toni FC in a game where they
had already qualified for the Cup. The Quarter-Finals
saw them draw 1-1 with FC Spritz (Hol) before
progressing 2-1 on pens. The Semi-Finals saw
a narrow 1-0 win over Springfield (Eng) to earn
that first final. They met the A-Team of France
and a sensational 4-1 win saw them sweep to
victory.
Their
opening encounter here was proving to be a tough
fixture. There was nothing between the two teams
as they entered the half-time break level at
0-0. In the second half Epsilon Rovers gradually
took on more of the possession and territory
but AFC Basemen remained dangerous on the break.
The game remained tight with chances few and
far between. Epsilon Rovers arguably had the
best chance in each half but at the death AFC
Basemen had a great chance to take all 3 points.
Ultimately it was defence and goalkeepers on
top as the teams played out a 0-0 draw.
