The Wooden Spoon Competition would see the four 5th placed teams come head-to-head in, what is also sometimes dubbed as, the battle for 17th place. Now was the opportunity to put the disappointments of the group phase behind them and kick on for some European glory – after all, all you have to do when you get back home is tell your mates you played in a European final.

To kick us off on Pitch A we had Fleet Street Elite versus Stag Park Rangers. The former were unable to register points in the group phase but the slate was wiped clean for the knock-out phase. Could they take advantage?

Stag Park Rangers came into the game with a bit of a bounce. They finished the group stage on a high – not only because they registered their first victory of the tournament but also because of the manner of that victory. A last minute winner sparked jubilant celebrations and they would hope to continue that momentum in this fixture.

It looked like that was to be the case and it was a good first half for Dave Cox in particular. He scored his fourth and fifth goals of the tournament to give Stag Park Rangers a 2-0 lead at half time. After the break things levelled off a little bit as the teams scored a goal each. Darren Clarke would claim his third of the day for Fleet Street Elite. Dean Carr would score his second of the day for Stag Park Rangers.

Final score, 3-1 and Stag Park Rangers were through to the final.

The second Wooden Spoon Semi-Final was a non-starter as we already knew Bayer Neverlosen had not been able to participate in Group C. It meant 3 Lions FC had a bye into the Wooden Spoon Final.
