The
second Semi-Final was Southgate Ramblers versus
Legends of the Vale. Who could join The Maulers
in the Wooden Spoon Final?
Legends
of the Vale collected the Plate trophy here
in Mallorca 5 years ago and were two games away
from finishing the day with another prize….although
maybe not the prize they would have wanted at
the start of the day. They had already met Southgate
Tourists earlier in the day when they had lead
1-0 before slipping to a 2-1 defeat. That may
be a yardstick for this game as they were up
against Southgate Ramblers.
Southgate
Ramblers had found life tough in Group C but
it would ultimately prove to be the Group of
Death as it produced the Cup Runners-Up, Cup
Semi-Finalists and Plate Winners. Their final
game was a narrow 2-1 defeat so maybe results
were trending in the right direction.
This
Semi-Final reached half-time level at 0-0 just
as Legends of the Vale's match against Southgate
Tourists had done earlier in the day. The second
halves of games had so far been Legends of the
Vale's undoing and so it proved again. If you
were looking for a man of the match look no
further than Steve Young. He scored all 4 of
Southgate Rambler's goals as they took the game
away from their opponents in the second period.
They would go on to meet The Maulers in the
final game on Group D.
Legends
of the Vale were out for this year. Thank you
to all the lads for joining us on tour again.
It was a pleasure to host you all and look out
for the Super Vets which we'll be developing
over the coming months.
