The second final of the day would see Dolce & Lallana versus Bugiels Athletic. With eight games of football already under their belt the two teams would need to summon one last burst of energy to ensure they would be picking up winners and not runners-up medals in the presentation.

There was a bit of symmetry to this game as these two sides played in the first game of the day and they would now contest the final game of the day. When they met earlier it was Dolce & Lallana who emerged victorious 1-0 but a lot of football had been played since then.

The stage was set, let's get the action underway. It was first blood to Dolce & Lallana as Oliver Webley applied the finish for his second goal of the tournament. It looked like history may well be repeating itself from this morning's tie but we were to get more goals in this one.

Bugiels Athletic were a different side in this second half of the tournament though. From a side that took 1 point from 12 in their first four games they had won four successive games and that momentum will have helped as they staged a comeback. Stef Antoci had been in the goals today and he now had one in a European final as he levelled things at 1-1. It was his sixth strike of the day.

The next goal was always going to be crucial and it went to Dolce & Lallana. Thomas Forster scored his ninth goal of the tournament and it was a momentous goal for two reasons. Not only was it the match-winning goal and Plate competition winning goal but it was also the goal that secured him the top scorer award (to add to the award he won at the 2022 Amsterdam Sixes).

First of all we offer our consolations to Bugiels Athletic on a fine campaign – they could not have got much closer to the Plate winners' trophy. It was a great debut and a pleasure to host all of the Bugiels Athletic & Rovers lads.

Huge congratulations go to our 2023 Lisbon Tournament Plate champions though – Dolce & Lallana.
