Round 3 started with Bugiels Athletic versus FC C(h)ampagne. The former had only played one game so far and it was a narrow 1-0 loss against the league leaders Dolce & Lallana. They had an opportunity to get their first points on the board against a Swiss team that had recorded 1 point from their first two games although that doesn't tell the whole story. They came from behind against RAF2 to draw 1-1 and also lost to the league leaders also narrowly, 1-0.

Using those games against Dolce & Lallana as a yardstick we expected this game to be close. It didn't start out that way, in terms of the score at least. Alex Forbes scored for the second game running and Craig Forbes joined him as FC C(h)ampagne established a 2-0 lead.

Time was running out for Bugiels Athletic and the game looked lost but they were back in it with a strike from Stef Antoci. Antoci bagged his brace soon after and levelled the match up at 2-2. The two teams had to settle for a point and we imagine it felt like a point gained for Bugiels but 2 points lost for FC C(h)ampagne having been 2-0 up.

We went into Game 8 of Group B with RAF2 (Por) due to meet Lindfield FC (Eng).

Lindfield FC first appeared in our tournaments at the 2019 Algarve Open. They slipped to an opening game defeat (2-0) to Parkwood A but quickly bounced back with a 2-0 win over Show Me Da Mane. They made it 2 wins out of 2 as they saw off Belgium's Trinacria, 3-1. They then had two defeats against Portuguese opposition – 2-0 to Hellgarve's Kraken and 2-1 to Red Star. They finished third of six teams and qualified for the Plate competition. They met Southgate County 1s in the QF and suffered another narrow defeat (2-1) to exit the tournament.

You will see that they played Hellgarve's Kraken who have since re-branded as RAF. So these two teams have played before. It was 2-0 to the Portuguese in the Algarve but 4 years on in Lisbon there was nothing to separate the two teams.

Whilst both teams went for the win neither team could find a successful route to goal. They had to settle for a 0-0 draw, the first goal-less draw in the tournament.

The next game was the mouth-watering prospect of league-leaders Dolce and Lallana versus the 2017 champions and 2019 runners-up, PFC.

Although it was early in the group this game could go a long way to deciding who won Group B. Dolce & Lallana's last game could well have come at a cost as they lost their goalkeeper Max Bowman to a hand injury with Harry Nicholls and William Gooch already sidelined with injury. Playing PFC was always going to be tough but with the added disruption to the squad it just made it even more daunting.

Indeed it was PFC who opened the scoring in this one with Tiago Oliveira on target. Thomas Forster then kept up his goal-per-game record to equalize for Dolce & Lallana. A Claudio Faustino goal restored the lead for PFC and at 2-1 Rui Fernandes made a great save from Forster to preserve the lead. It proved pivotal as moments later a superb passing move from PFC left Valdir with a tap in to make it 3-1 and earn all 3 points for PFC who moved to the top of the table.
