Olympic
Phil Babb had cruised to victory in their Quarter-Final
brushing aside a good SV Amstelland United side
with ease. How would Over Crusaders II fare against
them? Well, they could draw on some advise from
the Over Crusader first team who met Olympic Phil
Babb in Group B. Over Crusaders lost 2-0 on that
occasion and Over Crusaders II were looking to
improve on that.
That
said though, Olympic Phil Babb were on a roll
and it was going to be a mammoth task to stop
them. This proved to be a task beyond Over Crusaders
II as they found Alex Woolston to be their nemesis.
Woolston scored five goals to double his tournament
tally to 10 for the competition. If only Over
Crusaders could have stopped him maybe it would
have been different. Olympic Phil Babb repeated
their Quarter-Final 5-1 win with a Semi-Final
win by the scoreline and they were on the charge.
With such momentum surely they were now favourites.
In
the final they would meet the winners of Whiteley
FC and Stag & Co who had both come through
close Quarter Final clashes. Stag & Co, who
had never looked back following their opening
game defeat, took the initiative in this semi-final.
Whiteley FC were not to be beaten though and showed
the same battling qualities as their previous
game against Jays Carconect. Stag & Co always
had the edge and kept their noses in front so
that when the referee brought down the curtain
on the second semi-final it would be Stag &
Co to progress to the final by 5 goals to 3.
