Game
9 of Group D was arguably the most crucial game
of the group – especially if you were Lilchicago
or 3 Lions FC. The defeat for 3 Lions FC had opened
up the door for Lilchicago to climb above them
into second place. The nature of 3 Lions FC defeat
swung goal difference in favour of Lilchicago.
Lilchicago now needed just a point to go level
with 3 Lions FC on points but ahead of them on
goal difference.
The
Crazy Gang were playing for pride. With Bede FC
already on 4 points in fourth position, The Crazy
Gang knew they would finish in fifth position
regardless of this result. A win would give them
some momentum going into the Wooden Spoon competition
and they were still looking to score their opening
goal of the tournament.
These
two teams previous history in our events would
make Lilchicago favourites. However, their compatriots
Funfoot would testify to the fact that The Crazy
Gang would be no pushovers. “ There are no
easy games in Europe”
In
the opening period Lilchicago were indeed finding
The Crazy Gang a tough nut to crack. The two teams
went into the break level at 0-0. The Crazy Gang
had been level at half-time now in their last
3 group games. Could they keep it going or even
snatch a win?
Sadly
for The Crazy Gang fans it was not to be. Vaidas
Garsvinskas scored the goal to put Lilchicago
ahead. The game then opened up as Danas Kulisauskas
and Lukas Melaika made it 2-0 and 3-0 respectively.
Congratulations to Lilchicago who made it a Lithuanian
double for Cup qualification from Group D.
