We began the third round of fixtures with the teams in second position and fourth position meeting face to face. It was The A Team of France versus Wealdstone Raiders of England.

The A Team could go top with a win and they were in pole position when Daminho scored his second goal of the tournament to give his side a 1-0 lead at half-time.

Wealdstone Raiders were chasing their first goal of the tournament and they were to score it in the second half when Tom Desborough levelled things up for the English team. Wealdstone Raiders were heading for their second draw in a row but there was to be a late sting in the tail in this game.

As time was running out Chris MB scored a last minute winner for The A Team. It was a cruel blow for Wealdstone Raiders but the A Team would not care as they sat at the summit of Group A.

FC United of Bob had just seen The A Team move above them in Group A. FC United of Bob had a game in hand though and that game would now be kicking off on Pitch A. FC United of Bob would entertain LMH FC.

LMH FC had so far played out two 0-0 draws. A win for them would put them on 5 points and give them a chance of qualifying for the Cup going into the last round of fixtures. There would be no third successive 0-0 draw as Aaron Cartwright would score for the second game running.

When the half-time whistle blew FC United of Bob were leading 1-0. They won both their opening games by that very same score. If they could see this through for a hat-trick of 1-0 wins then they would be sure of a place in the Cup with a game to spare.

LMH FC would break their tournament duck in the tournament thanks to Mujahid Malik's goal. His goal was also the first FC United of Bob had conceded. The goal earned LMH FC a 1-1 draw. It meant LMH FC remained undefeated but the 3 draws was hindering their progress up the table.

The point for FC United of Bob meant they joined the A Team on 7 points but sat in second position on goal difference.

VSG United (Ltu) versus Wealdstone Raiders (Eng) was Game #8 in Group A and was certainly the most curious. It was a game between the two teams in fourth and fifth position. A win would give the victor a chance of Plate qualification whereas defeat would lead to a 5th place finish and Wooden Spoon qualification.

VSG United had so far played 2 and lost 2 with a goal difference of -4. Wealdstone Raiders had a draw and two narrow defeats (both by the odd goal) to their name. We expected a close game but this was a one-sided affair and lead to the biggest win of the day.

It was VSG United who were on the right end of the result. They raced to a 4-0 lead by half-time and then extended the score to 7-0 by the final whistle. Jerzy Kleminsky scored four goals with Michail Rukin and Konstantin Serov also on target. The Lithuanians had contributed three own goals so far today and were to benefit from one in this game with Tom Desborough the unfortunate Wealdstone Raider.

It was a sensational result and the size of the victory was a shock. It also condemned Wealdstone Raiders to the Wooden Spoon as they had now played out all their fixtures in Group A.

Game 9 of Group A would see the top two teams meet in direct competition. Both The A Team and FC United of Bob sat on 7 points and with Wealdstone Raiders' defeat above neither could be caught from those below. With Cup qualification already assured this was a free hit for the Group A title.

Not only were the teams playing for the Group A win and pride but the winner of the group would secure an easier Cup Quarter-Final tie – in theory at least. The A Team currently lead the way so a win or a draw would see them crowned group winners. Only a win was good enough for FC United of Bob.

Looking at the group table we expected this to be a close game and also a low scoring game. The two teams each had two clean sheets from their three games and so we didn't expect a goal frenzy. As it turned out the scorers were untroubled. The first half came and went with the score at 0-0. This is how it stayed at full-time and the two goalkeepers and their defences could take a bow for another job well done.

It meant The A Team would progress as Group A winners and FC United of Bob as runners-up. Well done to both on a successful morning's work.

So up next was LMH FC versus VSG United. Both teams were now guaranteed a place in the Plate although the order was yet to be decided. Each team still wanted to finish 3 rd in order to secure a (theoretically) easier Quarter Final fixture and of course pride and honour was at stake.

LMH FC would no doubt be favourites as they remained undefeated but could they secure their first win of the day and send them into the Plate with momentum. Talking of momentum, VSG United had plenty of it as they came into the game on the back of a sensational 7-0 win.

If VSG United had wanted to continue that form into this game then their hopes will have been dashed as LMH FC produced a comprehensive win. Mark Hornsey and Mujahid Malik (2) were both on target. Kostas Salnikovas had scored two own goals already today and he added another to contribute to LMH FC's cause.

Jerzy Kleminsky scored at the right end for VSG United but it was ultimately to prove a consolation as LMH FC ran out 4-1 victors.
