Game
4 of Group A was a repeat of the 2022 Amsterdam
Sevens Plate Final with Turn Down For Watford
meeting Milner Street. On that occasion, it was
Turn Down For Watford who were victorious, 5-2.
The goals were scored by Ben Gregory (2), Rich
Lyons (2) and Jase Opuku-Afriyie with the latter
two on the team sheet today. Milner Street's goals
came from James Gallagher and Freddie Wilkinson
who were also in today's squad. In this highly
anticipated rematch, both teams entered the match
in Porto on the back of opening-game wins, setting
the stage for a thrilling contest.
The
first half was a tight affair, with both teams
showing their defensive resilience. Turn Down
For Watford, confident from their previous victory
over Milner Street, created a few promising chances,
but Milner Street's backline held firm. At the
other end, Milner Street probed for openings but
found Watford's defence equally difficult to break
down. The teams went into half-time level at 0-0,
with little separating them.
The
second half continued in the same vein until Milner
Street found the breakthrough. Tom Grew seized
a moment of opportunity, scoring a decisive goal
to put his team 1-0 up. Turn Down For Watford
pushed for an equalizer, but Milner Street remained
composed and saw out the match. They had gained
their revenge for that Amsterdam defeat but more
importantly were top of the table in Group B.
