The first final of the day would see Krwiodawcy versus Bure Park Old Boys. With five games of football already under their belt the two teams would need to summon one last burst of energy to ensure they would be picking up winners medals and the trophy in the presentation.

Let's have a look at the two teams' credentials for the Plate title:

Bure Park Old Boys (Eng)

Bure Park Old Boys would be making their sixth appearance in a final in our tournaments. This includes Plate Runners-Up medals (as Karma FC) in the 2010 Valencia Fives, the 2011 Wooden Spoon title (as Karma FC), claiming the 2012 Valencia Fives Trophy title (as Sporting Abeergut) and finishing runners-up at in the Plate at the 2013 Krakow Trophy. All there were open age events. The 2018 Mallorca Veterans saw their first final at this level where they were Plate runners up to Legends of the Vale, 2-1. Could they go one step further here at the Krakow Veterans?

These two teams had met before earlier in the day and on that occasion Krwiodawcy had emerged victorious, 2-1. A repeat would obviously do them just fine. Could Bure Park Old Boys gain revenge and lift some silverware?

The stage was set, let's get the action underway. It was a very even contest and there was very little to choose between the two teams as you would expect from their previous match. Just like that earlier game though it was Krwiodawcy who took the lead. Dariusz Zyta was the man with the goal who took his tally for the day to 5. Goals were likely to be at a premium with two well matched teams and so it proved. By the end of the first period just that one goal divided the two teams.

In the second half Bure Park Old Boys threw everything at Krwiodawcy but the Polish defence stood firm. At the other end Krwiodawcy were unable to extend their lead and so the game remained on a knife edge until the final stages. It only needed one mistake from the Polish, a moment of genius from the English or a little bit of luck and we would need a shoot-out to settle it just like we did in both semi-finals. Ultimately though, there was no addition to the score as time expired on Bure Park Old Boys chances.

First of all we offer our consolations to Bure Park Old Boys on a fine campaign – they could not have got much closer to the Plate winners' trophy. It was a great performance and a pleasure to host the team as always.

Huge congratulations go to our 2022 Krakow Veterans Plate champions though – Krwiodawcy. A 1 st eurofootballfives.com trophy and maybe a stepping stone to a Cup win next time!
