The one thing guaranteed going into the final is that we would have a Czech winner. At the Prague Masters in July Kehar Club beat Slepi Know in an all Czech final. In similar fashion, DHL Prague and AFK would meet to decide who would win the Prague Trophy to join the Northern Monkeys and Kehar Club on the eurofootballfives.com hall of fame.

Both sides were strong, although the bookies had AFK Druhaci as favourites. With eleven goals scored, none conceded and Marek Kropelnicky on red hot goal scoring form, it was not difficult to see why.

DHL Prague had reached the final also in good form but had a more difficult route. With 4 wins out of 5 (defeat to AMG in the group stage) DHL Prague had fought and competed to see off Red Star Rickerbys 2-1 in the quarter final and We Are Messi 2-0 in the semi final.

AFK ensuerd everything went to plan in the opening stages, opening up a two goal lead with Marek Kropelnicky bagging both and taking his personal total to 9 goals in 6 games. A big hats off at this stage to DHL Prague as they rallied strongly. Lesser teams would have crumbled but with nothing now to lose, DHL Prague played some of their best football. AFK Druhaci were now under serious pressure despite their two goal cushion. AFK were made to work very hard to protect their lead. The pressure eventually told and DHL Prague deservedly pulled one back.

At 2-1 with time still on their side DHL Prague threw players forward. AFK Druhaci were on the back foot and rocking having conceded their first goal of the tournament, a second looked a realistic possibility.

In a very entertaining game the neutrals cheered on DHL Prague as they wanted the drama to continue into extra time. DHL Prague were now regularly carving out chances but could not put them away. They didn't come any closer when, with just a minute to go DHL Prague blazed wide from 5 yards with a sharp chance.

AFK Druhaci were made to work hard for their victory but victory it was as the final whistle blew. Their quality throughout the tournament saw them richly deserve the title of 2007 Prague Trophy Winners.
