Round
6 and the big story of the event - Karcinogeni
disqualified for fielding ineligible players.
Karcinogeni had brought a squad of 13 when the
maximum number of players permitted in a squad
was 9. Having selected a playing squad of 9 from
the original 13, Karcinogeni were found to have
played their four ineligible players against Slepi
Kone and after previous warnings eurofootballfives
had no option but to disqualify them for deliberate
breach of the rules. A situation no-one wanted
although the only fair decision - eurofootballfives
vow to maintain the integrity of their events
at all times.
The
sad fact was that with a squad of 13, Karcinogeni
could have entered two teams. Karcinogeni were
one of the favourites to win this event, so we
will never know if they had what it took to go
all the way. A door was now opened a little more
for the other teams.
On
the pitch there was a hugely impressive 5-1 win
for Byraspor against Kehar Club, propelling them
into to top of the new look table. That's Right
were back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over
the Fighting Pukekos, who true to their name were
fighting to the end. Northam Celtic picked up
3 points with their walkover against the Lions
Bar.
The
tables were quickly recalculated and all the matches
involving Karcinogeni were declared void.
