So, what was to decide going into Round 7?

•  Liverbirds FC would win the group if they beat BA Speedbirds 2
•  Camden Town Ladies would win the group if they beat Team Amman A and Liverbirds FC failed to beat BA Speedbirds 2.
•  BA Speedbirds 1 would win the group if Camden Town Ladies lost and Liverbirds FC lost to BA Speedbirds 2 by 11 goals!
•  Liverpool Feds would qualify for the Cup if they put Team Amman B.
•  BA Speedbirds 2 would qualify for the Cup if they beat Liverbirds FC, Team Amman B beat Liverpool Feds and Team Amman did not beat Camden Town Ladies by more goals than they beat Liverpool Feds.
•  Team Amman A would qualify for the Cup if they beat Camden Town Ladies by a greater scoreline than BA Speedbirds 2 beat Liverbirds FC and if Liverpool Feds lost.

This situation meant all 6 teams had something to play for going into the last round of games and it was interesting at the top and the bottom.

Lets deal with the top first, Liverbirds FC knew they had everything in their own hands. Beat BA Speedbirds 2 and they would win the group – simple as that. How would they react following their first dropped points of the tournament. Pretty well is the answer to that. An opening goal from Lucy Holmes and a second from Chantelle Thompson ended BA Speedbirds 2's hopes of Cup qualification and consigned them to the Plate. Liverbirds FC's 2-0 victory meaning they would win the group and take pole position in the semi-final draw when the Cup competition started.

Another Liverpool team with their fate in their own hands was Liverpool Feds. Their task was a straightforward one – win and qualify for the Cup. Their opponents were Team Amman B still looking for their first goal and points of the tournament so it would take a huge shock for them to lose but Team Amman A were hoping their B team would be able to do exactly that to give them a chance when they met Camden Town Ladies.

Liverpool Feds made no mistake when the game kicked off as Team Amman B slipped to their worst defeat of the tournament. If there was any doubt on Liverpool Feds' credentials for Cup qualification this was put to bed with an emphatic 18-0 victory. The result produced a first for eurofootballfives.com competition when 8 out of 9 players in a squad scored in the same game. If you want to keep track with the scorers here we go – Danielle Higgins (2), Jemma Parr (2), Karen Quinn (2), Kayleigh Kirlew (3), Kara Hickey (2), Kaya Burley (3), Jade Hickey (2), Natalie White (2).

Whilst they did not know this at the time as they were playing on Pitch A, Team Amman A could not qualify as they took on Camden Town Ladies. Camden Town Ladies were playing for second place and pride due to Liverbirds FC's victory. Camden Town Ladies performed well again and ground out a 2-0 win with their familiar scorers of Carmel Clinton and Mary Guest each adding to their tally.
