Team
Amman came close in their debut game with a narrow
loss to Liverbirds FC. They were hoping to go
one better in their next game against BA Speedbirds
2 who were still looking for their first points
having also played one game more. The game proved
to be a close affair with both sides determined
in defence. Neither side could break down their
opponents and with defences on top the game finished
in a stalemate. A clean sheet to both keepers
and a point each for the league table to get their
campaigns going and relax their nerves.
Next
up in Round 3 was a “derby” between the two Liverpool
sides in the competition. Liverbirds FC were flying
with a 100% record from their two games whilst
Liverpool Feds were also on a maximum from their
one game thus far. The two teams were expected
to be evenly matched but the game proved to take
a different direction. Liverbirds FC started brightly
and were rewarded when they took the lead through
Lucy Holmes. From then on they never looked back
as Lucy Holmes went on to complete her hat-trick
before Chantelle Thompson added a fourth. A comfortable
4-0 win in the end for Liverbirds FC who were
laying down the marker as tournament favourites
with 9 points from 3 games.
If
Liverbirds FC were emerging as favourites then
Camden Town Ladies were following on in their
slipstream nicely. They faced struggling Team
Amman B in their next match and duly completed
the expected victory. Healey's third consecutive
clean sheet formed another solid base as the forwards
made hay whilst the sun shone. Goals from Mary
Guest (5), Carmel Clinton (5) and Sarah Boyall
(1) all contributed to the final score of 11-0.
BA
Speedbirds 1 took a rest for Round 3 but would
return to action in Round 4. |
