Mixed Up (Hol)

Group C began with Retainers Academy versus Benecke – both teams were on debut and so we looked forward to them beginning their eurofootballfives.com careers on Pitch C.

It was a fast start for Benecke with a goal in the opening moments and from there they went from strength to strength. They took full control of this game in the first half alone as they established a 4-1 lead. George Gaydon's goal was Retainers Academy's first in Europe as they clearly came up against a very good side first time out.

In the second half George Gaydon doubled his tally for Retainers Academy but his goals couldn't hold back the tide as Benecke added three of their own in the second half to complete a 7-2 win.

Benecke shared the goals around with Dylan George (2), Zuhair Albaghdadi (2), Imad Isco (2) and Bilal Kaddouri all finding the net.

Next up on Pitch C was Spider Mans 1s and Binham FC in an all-England contest. Binham FC were making their first appearance in eurofootballfives.com history but Spider Mans were regulars since their debut at the 2014 Bratislava Fives. Since then journeys to Budapest, Lisbon and Krakow had brought them here to Amsterdam for their fifth appearance.

At their most recent appearance in Krakow this May both their sides won their groups and they started well here in Group C. Like Benecke before them they found themselves 4-1 up at half-time and 7-2 up at full-time. Like Benecke they shared the goals around with 4 different goalscorers with Liam Stevens leading the way with a hat-trick. There was a double for Steve Wildman plus a goal each for Alex Steward and Callum McConchie.

For Binham FC, Matt Finn opened up their eurofootballfives.com account with their first goal. Ben Kelly scored their second to get off and running from a personal perspective.

There had been goals galore at the start of Group C with two 7-2 results. Mixed Up and Retainers Academy would come into this game hoping they could emulate that and, of course, be on the winning side. For Mixed Up, this would be their first match of the day.

Retainers Academy had already warmed up but in their opening game they'd tasted defeat against a good Benecke side and were looking to bounce back. George Gaydon had scored both Retainers Academy goals in their first game and he was on the goal trail again scoring their first in this game. Adry Alonso joined the goal-scoring party as his goal ensured his team would be ahead at the turnaround. Mixed Up were still in it though as a Jose goal meant the lead was a narrow one at 2-1.

Retainers Academy won the first half (2-1) and did the same in the second to complete a 4-2 victory. Harpeet Dhaliwal bagged his first goal of the tournament before George Gaydon rounded off the scoring with his second consecutive brace. A Cris goal could not prevent Mixed Up sliding to defeat.

The next game in Group C was Benecke versus Spider Mans 1s. This promised to be a thrilling game as both teams had won their opening game in style and both by the emphatic margin of 7-2. Although it was early in the group phase this game could go a long way in deciding the group winners.

We expected a close game and we certainly got a competitive one but there was always one team that seemed to have the edge. That team was Benecke who forged a 3-1 lead at the break. The Dutch team repeated the dose in the second half. It wasn't another 7-2 but the final score of 6-2 was pretty impressive from Benecke. Admittedly we were only two games in but Benecke were already looking like the team to beat for this year's tournament.

The chief marksman for Benecke was Queentino Zinhagel with a hat-trick. There was a double for Zuhair Albaghdadi and a third of the day for Dylan George. Both goals for Spider Mans 1s came from Alex Stewart who also took his tally for the day to three.

The game that took us to the halfway stage of Group C was Binham FC versus Mixed Up. The two teams were looking for their first points of the day and at least one team would have a point on the board at the end of this game.

Would one team take all 3 points or would they share the points? Mixed Up made the early running and struck the first blow towards claiming the maximum 3 points. The Dutch team opened up a 3-1 lead at half-time thanks to goals from #7, #4 and then #3. A captain's goal from Anthony Siswick kept Binham FC in the hunt.

In the second half it was Mixed Up's #6 who won the game as he took the score beyond Binham FC. He scored four for his team to make the game safe before #7 and #4 put the icing on the cake as Mixed Up claimed all three points.

Anthony Siswick scored his second of the game and Matt Finn his second of the tournament but they would have been scant consolation as Binham FC slipped to a 9-3 defeat.
