The Chosen
Ones and NHBC
met in the first Plate Quarter-Final. Both teams
entered the game with two draws to their name
and both looking for their first victory. Having
seen the two teams in action both would consider
themselves unlucky not to win to date. It was
NHBC who looked most likely to end this record
in the early stages of the game. They had the
initiative for most of the game in a high-scoring
contest but could not shake off a spirited Chosen
Ones team who hung on to their coat tails.
Amarjit
Nadal was proving the hero for NHBC who scored
his fourth brace in five games although the
hat-trick proved elusive for the striker. Andrew
Janes and an own goal helped NHBC to four goals.
If you score four in a quarter-final you would
expect to be on the winning side but not in
this game. The Chosen Ones had goal-scoring
heroes of their own with Jack Cooper and Josh
Huggett scoring two goals each to level the
game at 4-4 in normal time.
Maybe
unsurprisingly, the game finished in a draw
which was the 3rd in 4 for The Chosen Ones and
3rd in 5 for NHBC. This game would go through
to golden goal extra time. It was The Chosen
Ones who scored it and what a time to get a
hat-trick. It was Josh Huggett who stepped up
to score his first hat-trick in eurofootballfives.com
competition. Congratulations to them but you
really have to feel for NHBC who were a better
side than results suggested.
in
the second Plate Quarter-Final, Atlantic
Star would take on Lions
Bar of the Czech Republic. Atlantic Star
who were looking for their first win went to
town in this game and won their first game at
a canter. Graham McAnally got the ball rolling
before goals from Clarke Woollam, Daley Croston,
a second from McAnally, two from Ryan McCairm
and one from Paul Coram. All five outfield players
finding the net. Viki Lapatnik did score for
the Lions Bar, a more than respectable 4 tournament
goals for him in a struggling team. The final
score was 7-1 though and Atlantic Star powered
through to the semi-final.
The
Cheeky Boys and DHL
Prague Red earned byes to the semi-final
courtesy of their 4th placed finishes in Groups
B and C respectively.
