The
Quarter-Final draw was predetermined before the
start of the tournament. The first two Plate Quarter-Finals
would see two sides earn byes straight through
to the semi-finals. Those teams were West
1 Three and FC
Pirenore.
The
action on the pitch would begin with ABN
Ammo taking on Dynamo
of Spain. With six of the seven Spanish teams
qualifying for the Cup competition, Dynamo were
Spain's sole hope in the Plate. They had emerged
from the group of death in the morning phase and
would be a tough team to beat. ABN Ammo had yet
to get into their stride although had come close
in a couple of fixtures just losing by the odd
goal.
Dynamo
went into the game as favourites and they were
living up to their favourites tag early on as
Norberto gave the Spanish team the lead. The game
remained at 1-0 until half-time and at only a
goal down ABN Ammo were still in this. The second
goal of the game virtually decided matters and
it was Norberto again to put Dynamo 2-0 up. 2-0
became 3-0 through Gary Moore and they were in
the semi-finals. ABN Ammo's tournament was over.
The
next quarter-final would be contested by Premier
Medical and Not
Vernon Kaye's Stag Do for the right to
meet Dynamo. Premier Medical had been lifted in
their previous game thanks to a resounding 4-1
win over the Black Sheep. Not Vernon Kaye's Stag
Do despite losing their three games had not been
disgraced and it was only the first half of their
game versus FC Pirenore where they had really
struggled. The Plate Quarter-Finals was there
chance to turn things around.
It
was not to be though as Premier Medical carried
on their previous game's form and took the initiative
by racing into a two goal lead. The chief architect
was Chris Roberts who scored both goals. His goals
were enough to send Premier Medical through to
the semi-finals and just two wins from lifting
the Plate trophy.
Not
Vernon Kaye's stag do would now start their post-tournament
warm down where they left off from their pre-tournament
preparation – in the bar.
