The 2008 Amsterdam Fives marked eurofootballfives.com debut in the capital of the Netherlands. The tournament was marked by goals, goals, goals! With good sized goals, attacking intent from all teams and difficult conditions for goalkeepers and defenders an amazing 245 goals were scored in 38 games. This is the highest total in eurofootballfives.com history.

The Amsterdam Fives proved to be the most requested tournament of our summer season calendar and we are already making plans to return in 2009. The tournament saw 16 teams from 4 nations assembled for a fantastic festival of football. The traveling teams from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Rotterdam were all looking to beat the home Amsterdam teams “in their own back yard”.

We would like to thank all the teams that took part in the tournament for playing the game in such a great spirit. This really did add to the atmosphere of the tournament and our Dutch hosts have invited everyone back already.

The teams were split into 4 groups of 4, with the top 2 teams progressing to the prestigious Cup Competition. The teams finishing in 3rd and 4th place would compete in the Plate Competition, still with a chance to collect silverware.

Please read on to see how the action unfolded over a great day of competition.
