Accommodation
in Barcelona is not cheap but hostels are very
good. The general image of a youth hostel is a
manky old, run down flea-pit. That is not the
case in Barcelona. In many cases the hostels are
better than 2* and some 3* hotels. Hostels in
Barcelona are often very modern, very well-catered
and very comfortable. We have chosen the three
best hostels in Barcelona for you.
Location:
Barcelona Mar is placed in the heart of Barcelona's
Raval neighbourhood, a multicultural, vivacious
and trendy area close to the museum of Contemporary
Art and many other attractive galleries. The hostel
is a maximum 10 minutes walk from Plaça
Catalunya (Barcelona's main square) and 5 minutes
from the famous Ramblas. In fact the walk (a variety
of routes as Rambla Raval runs parallel to Las
Ramblas) is quite a pleasant one and there are
some interesting back-streets to explore.
The good spots of the city are walking distance:
Picasso Museum, Gaudi's unique and gorgeous houses,
The Cathedral, the Gothic neighbourhood, the bohemian
Born area..... even the beaches and the harbour!!
Rooms:
Rooms are in the form of dormitories or private
twin rooms. Within the dorms/rooms are lockers
and each room is air-conditioned. Our price includes
all linen, towels etc.
Services:
Free internet access, luggage storage service,
24 hour reception, no curfews, kitchen free for
you to use, laundry service, lounge area, games
room, safety deposit box.
Our Opinion:
This
is also a good central option for those on a budget.
If you are fleet of foot you can make Las Ramblas
in just 3 minutes by following Carrer Sant Pau
in a straight line you come out by the Liceo theatre.
This hostel is all about location. The dorms are
probably a touch more basic than the Centric Point
and Hello BCN so you are paying the extra for
saving a 5 minute or so walk to the nightlife.
